Is it correlation? Is it causation?

He joined the Marketing department at Amazon just a few months before they IPOd. In the aftermath of the dot-com bust when a lot of senior executives left Amazon, Andy was one of the few who stuck with the Company and rose through the ranks, leading their Customer Service (?) and subsequently Music businesses. He was appointed Technical Assistant to the CEO in 2001-3, after which he was handed the reigns to the flourishing "Amazon.com Web Services" group.
